The Mustard Seed's Affordable Housing Initiative

The Mustard Seed; Giving Homes to the Homeless and Hope to the Hopeless
The Mustard Seed's Affordable Housing Initiative is not new news; not since it broke ground in September 2011. This is simply a Christmas update regarding this important step in the province's 10-year plan to end homelessness. Things are going well.
The building is under constant construction and will include: underground parking for cars and bikes, retail space, administrative and program space, a secured lobby and 10 floors of housing, totaling 224 units.

The building represents a second chance for those who need it the most

According to Andrew Trevoy, Chair at the Mustard Seed's Board of Directors, the building will provide more than just a home for those in need; "it is about the 224 individuals who will receive a second chance and a new beginning" said Trevoy.

In an attempt to eliminate the mortgage on the building, as well as reduce rent to a minimum, the Mustard Seed has launched a $20M capital campaign, out of which over half has already been raised.

Doors of the Affordable Housing Initiative are scheduled to open in late 2013, or early 2014, welcoming the first - yet to be determined - residents.
