The Orchard


Building up instead of out - that is how our municipal government has been developing Calgary in the past few years; revamping and rejuvenating already-existing areas within the city. East Village is probably the most famous of these revitalization projects, but locals can see a tremendous change all around:


Replacing an old, barely used parking lot, The Orchard will be located on 5th street and 12th avenue SE, right across from Victoria Hall. The location cannot be more ideal for a development of this sort since, as part of the Stampede Park Expansion Plan, the entire Victoria Park area will get a new life in the form of restaurants, retail & office spaces, and a brand new face to many of the Stampede Grounds features. Exciting time indeed!

Lamb Development Corp. takes the lead on this new and unique condominium project. The company was founded over a decade ago by Brad J. Lamb, a leading real-estate broker from Toronto; the goal was to be involved in the development of modern urban condo projects. To-date, the company has already completed 16 projects, has 5 currently under construction and 8 additional projects under development.

There are other companies that are involved in bringing The Orchard to life:

  • Architects Alliance - the company offers a full spectrum of services via a mix of designers, technologists and, of course, architects. The aA team is experienced in a myriad of different developments such as condos, affordable housing, private courtyards, urban scapes, and classrooms & research labs.
  • Design Agency - founded by Allen Chan, Matt Davis and Anwar Mekhayech, this award-winning company offers inspiring visions of environments and architecture. Interior design, Industrial design and Visual communication is what separates this company from its competitors.
  • Fortress Real Developments Inc. - a real estate company that is experienced in identifying opportunities in Canadian markets including residential, commercial, industrial and land. The focus of the company is to collaborate with established developers & builders on large scale, blue-chip development projects.
So what can we expect from this new project? Good question!

First and foremost - there will be an Orchard! 66 apple trees, half September Ruby and half Parkland. The idea behind creating an orchard comes from the desire to create something unique and important for Victoria Park. It is to be "a source of food, a high design art park, a respite for Calgarians and an environmental asset for the city" - according to The Orchard buyer's guide.
There will be a variety of different sized apartments, from one to three bedroom units, ranging between 521 sq.ft. and 1986 sq.ft..













Expect large windows, sliding doors leading to the balconies (in those units who have them), exposed concrete ceilings in many rooms, white walls and ceilings in all other rooms, individually controlled heating and AC systems, gas BBQ connections on balconies and terraces and much, much more!
